SIGNS PARENTS NOTICE
Is your child getting the restful sleep they need?
Any one sign can have several explanations. A pattern of persistent symptoms—especially loud or regular snoring—deserves a closer look.
During sleep
Regular snoring, gasping or pauses in breathing, sleeping with an open mouth, restless tossing, unusual sleep positions, or waking frequently may point to breathing problems.
During the day
Persistent mouth breathing, a stuffy nose, difficulty waking, low energy, headaches or changes in attention and behavior may be worth discussing with your child’s pediatrician.
In the mouth and jaws
Grinding, crowded teeth, a narrow upper arch, a high palate, or changes in jaw growth may lead us to examine dental development alongside breathing and sleep history.
WHAT HAPPENS AT YOUR VISIT
A careful look at breathing, sleep and jaw development
Dr. Sangita Venkatesh starts by understanding the child—not by choosing an appliance.
1 — Listen and screen
We discuss snoring, mouth breathing, sleep quality, allergies, school-day symptoms, and any prior pediatric, ENT or sleep evaluations.
2 — Examine and document
We assess the teeth, bite, dental arches, palate, tongue function and jaw relationships, and may use photographs, digital scans or other appropriate dental records.
3 — Make a coordinated plan
If sleep apnea, nasal obstruction, or enlarged tonsils/adenoids is suspected, we help coordinate appropriate medical evaluation. Dental options are discussed only when they fit the findings.
GROWTH & ORAL-APPLIANCE OPTIONS
Different children need different approaches
Vivos makes several pediatric appliances. Guide and Way are removable growth-stage options, while PEx is an expansion pathway. Exact appliance choice depends on the child’s age, teeth, bite, arch form and clinical goals.

Vivos Guide
A removable pediatric appliance family used in selected dental-arch, tooth-positioning and oral-development plans. We assess whether the child’s dentition, growth stage and wear readiness make a Guide appropriate.

Vivos Way
A distinct pediatric appliance option. Its design and use are considered separately from Guide; the choice depends on the child’s dental development, treatment objectives and ability to follow the prescribed schedule.

Vivos PEx
A digitally planned pediatric expansion option for selected upper-arch development needs. Expansion is considered when clinical examination supports it; it is not a stand-alone treatment for every child with snoring or mouth breathing.
What about Vivos Starter, Grow and DNA?
The wider Vivos pediatric range also includes early-stage guidance approaches and other growth-oriented appliances. The specific product name, age range, wear schedule and clinical indication should be confirmed before a device is recommended. Selected children may also be evaluated for the Vivos DNA appliance when its specific indications and medical requirements are met.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answers for parents considering a pediatric airway evaluation
A few important questions about pediatric airway signs and treatment options.
Does mouth breathing mean my child has sleep apnea?
No. Mouth breathing has several possible causes. Habitual snoring, gasping, or pauses in breathing should be discussed with your child’s pediatrician or a sleep specialist.
Will an appliance cure sleep apnea or prevent braces?
Neither outcome can be promised. Dental appliances can address selected dental and growth goals, while diagnosed sleep disorders require an appropriate medical treatment plan and follow-up.
At what age should my child be evaluated?
Persistent symptoms can be discussed at any age. Appliance suitability depends on dental development, clinical findings, and the child’s individual needs.
What should I bring to the evaluation?
Bring available sleep-study results, pediatric or ENT records, medications and allergies, and observations about sleep and breathing. A short nighttime video can be useful for discussion, but does not establish a diagnosis.
INSURANCE & FINANCIAL PLANNING
Coverage depends on the diagnosis, appliance and plan.
We accept your insurance and will help you maximize your benefits. Medical or dental benefits, prior authorization requirements and coverage rules can differ by device and diagnosis. Our team can review expected fees and available benefits before treatment begins.
Treatment recommendations are based on clinical need, not on whether a particular appliance is covered.

START WITH AN EVALUATION
Let’s understand your child’s breathing, sleep and growth concerns.
Bring any sleep, pediatric or ENT records you have, along with your questions about snoring, mouth breathing or dental development. We will discuss the findings and whether further medical evaluation, a pediatric dental appliance or another approach is appropriate.
Treatment recommendations follow an individualized evaluation. Suspected sleep apnea is assessed through appropriate pediatric medical care.
